As I was growing up, sports were a big part of my life. After attending college for Nursing, I began to have a slightly unhealthy lifestyle for the first time. I began to eat ‘convenient’ food and was socializing over beer and wings. Because I now had a busy full time career, I didn’t make time for sports anymore. I gained 15 pounds of fat, mostly around my mid-section. My husband says I could have been the face for “Flabbylicious Fitness” if I didn’t change my ways. I was 24 and rolley for the first time in my life. It was really depressing. I knew I needed a change. I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer as I was intimidated by weights and all the machines. I lost 12 pounds within the first month of working out. I saw muscle in my arms that I had never seen before. Of course I LOVED IT! The next few years was an on again, off again type of exercise. When I was about to go on vacation, I would workout, drop weight and when I got back from vacation, I wasn’t moti- vated until

    1. in my response to your cciylng post, we often bike in Seattle and yup even head South and East to swim. There aren’t any lakes in Marysville. Well, I guess there are the Twin Lakes and Lake Goodwin, but I haven’t had my shots.

  4. Awesome workout! So many of my clients shy away from weight. But it is important for women to use heavy weights for toning as well as cardio

    1. NO!!!! yoga is just a program where old peploe that can strech steal your money-you would have a better change of losing more weight by running 2 miles a day and doing 29 sit up every morning and before you go to sleep. the reason yoga is bad for weigh loss is because it makes you want to eat a lot of bagels and drink alot of green tea.

  5. if i stick to a clean diet all week and have sat and sunday off as in have a few treats how often should i train weights? how often should i train hit training and cv pls ………..im so confused ? what time scale am i looking at to get ripped

  6. Military press should be done from a standing position. Seated lets you rely on the bench for stability. Also, any type of vertical pull – pull-ups, pull-downs, etc should NEVER be done behind the neck. Terrible for your shoulders. It is meat-head trainers like these that get their education out of body building magazines and who use split routines to force people to train more often for more income that give personal training a bad name. Full body workouts are far more efficient and effective.

  7. The rows at an angle target more of your lower lats. Think about this – wherever your elbows are pointing, that is the part of you back your going to hit. Flavia says hand grips relieve some of the tension on your forearms so you can target the working muscle better. You don’t want to use hand grips all the time because it will prevent proper forearm strengthening.

  8. It all depends on where your starting from. Flavia does 5 sessions of weight training per week and 3 – 4 days of HIIT. Getting ripped takes time and effort. If you are a complete beginner start with just 3 days a week of full body workouts. As you adapt to that then you would add more. You want to use the minimum effective dose.

    1. Yoga is good for general well being. To lose wehigt, cardio plus eating right is the best way. Have yoga in your exercise routine but don’t use that as a weght loss method. It won’t work.But, do not discontinue Yoga. It has some very excellent way to do internal cleansing such as deep breathing. Flexibility enhancement with Yoga is very good. It will also help to keep your cardio workout in proper rhythm.

  15. It would be a shame for you not to build muscle when normal people accomplish it so easily with Lean Body Maximizer (Google it).

    1. Cardio is best for weightloss (calorie bunnrig). Yoga is great for toning the muscles, flexibility, and quieting the mind. I love it, and try to make it a part of my fitness regime. Once a week isn’t much though (for any benefit) perhaps if you tried to do some yoga at home in the mornings, then your cardio exercises later in the day
